November 2008 - Join us for Pajama Week the week of November 24 - 29 at the Sylvan Learning Centre of Lethbridge. Wear PJs and /or bring a "Teddy Bear" for an extra white token!
October 2008 - NEW PROGRAM COMING IN NOVEMBER !!!:
Beginning in November, we will be offering a new program called "Handwriting Without Tears"!
This program uses a fun, hands-on approach to developing and correcting letter formation in printing or cursive handwriting. We are excited to be able to offer this new program. Please call the Sylvan Lethbridge centre for more details.
October 2008 - Sylvan of Lethbridge
will be CLOSED FOR INSTRUCTION on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.
September 2008 - Our fall schedule is in full swing at Sylvan of Lethbridge! If you have not, as yet, reserved your time slot, we would be happy to do that for you!
Please note that a number of hours have been added to our normal instructional hours. Along with our regular Monday to Thursday evening hours, instruction also begins at 1:45 and at 2:45 each of these days. Friday's schedule has also been expanded to include 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. starting times. Saturday hours will remain as they have been in past years. Hopefully, these changes will provide you with choices that work for your family and your student!
September 2008 - The Sylvan Lethbridge centre will be closed for THANKSGIVING on Saturday, October 11 and Monday, October 13, 2008. If your child has a Saturday or Monday schedule and you would like to make-up these hours, any of the office staff would be happy to arrange that for you.
August 2008 - It's time to think about fall. Our fall schedule at Sylvan of Lethbridge will begin on September 2, 2008. We would like to encourage everyone to think about the tutoring schedule that would work for them and to phone the office to reserve times.

July 2008 - Earn extra tokens for each book read this summer!
Each book report handed in to your tutors at Sylvan of Lethbridge entitles an entry into a weekly draw for a "free slurpee".

We would like to congratulate and celebrate Cole R. for his outstanding progress in his academic reading program at Sylvan of Lethbridge. Cole always puts forth extraordinary effort and demonstrates a positive attitude toward learning. Congratulations, Cole!!
June 2008 - Summer is a great time for reading! Once again the Lethbridge Sylvan centre will be awarding extra tokens for each book read by our students. Get ready to participate!
The centre will by closed from June 23rd through July 1st in order to prepare for the new schedule. New summer hours will start on Wednesday, July 2nd! See you then!
May 2008 - We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Lethbridge Sylvan Teachers for the excellent work that they do and the commitment that they demonstrate throughout the year.
Their dedication to our students and high degree of professionalism makes the Lethbridge Sylvan Centre an exciting place to be.
Summer is a great time to work on skill gaps and maintain skills at Sylvan. Our regular programs continue throughout the summer.
The Sylvan of Lethbridge is in the process of preparing this summer's schedule. We will be open for instruction five mornings, four afternoons and two evenings each week.
A reminder that our centre will be closed for instruction May 17th and May 19th. We will also be closed from June 23rd through July 1st to allow us to prepare for all our summer activities.

Student of the Month:
Devin L., an eighth grader at G. S. Lakie School, is our exceptional student of the month for February. Devin has been working in the Lethbridge tutor's reading, math and writing programs. He has wonderful writing ideas and is developing them well. Devin has made huge strides in his reading comprehension and this has resulted in a great report card. His marks have climbed steadily and Devin in now an Honours Student. His parents are extremely proud of his accomplishments.
Devin is a very positive, personable and hard-working young man.
Congratulations Devin on being selected as our Student of the Month!
During the month of January we will be encouraging and tutoring our students as they prepare for their exams which most will be writing at the end of the month. We have conveniently displayed grade-appropriate posters that review some "Test-Taking Tips." Your child's Sylvan Lethbridge tutor will be talking to your child about their study routine and making helpful suggestions to ensure greater success.
One tip that will be emphasized for younger students is to follow the test directions carefully. Older students need to remember to preview the test and to manage their time.
We wish all of our students success as they complete their current school semester!
