Enrich your child's most important years with a Sylvan reading tutor.

Want to give your child a running start with reading?  For those children who are ready, pre–Kindergarten is the ideal time to instill a love for books and reading.

Pre–K reading from Sylvan is an enrichment program for younger children, usually around the ages of four and five, who have not yet started school, but exhibit signs that they are ready to begin reading principles. Your child may be ready for our pre–K reading program if he:

At this age, many children do not exhibit these signs, which is entirely normal and appropriate. However, Sylvan has designed its pre–K program to equip early learners with reading readiness skills like letter recognition and listening comprehension.

Consistent with the National Institute for Literacy and the International Reading Association guidelines, your Sylvan reading tutor will focus on the building blocks of reading with your preschooler:

Upon enrolling, your child will be assessed by a Sylvan reading tutor, who will determine his readiness and design an individual curriculum with specific learning objectives.

Your trained and certified Sylvan reading tutor will make the written word come alive, reading fun books like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Leo the Late Bloomer. A proven multi–sensory approach is used, allowing children to see, hear, touch and move as they learn reading principles.

An early start with a Sylvan pre–K reading tutor is the best way to build your child's reading foundation and instill a love of books and learning. Visit the tutoring programs section for more information on other subjects offered by Sylvan.

COME TO AN UNDERSTANDING:
About an hour after reading to your child, gently ask her about what transpired in the book. This will help foster listening comprehension skills and give you a chance to explain any events that might have been confusing to her.
